EU’s Road to Fair Climate Adaptation: Citizen Voices and Local Impact

Between September 2023 and April 2024, we conducted group discussions on climate issues with 160 citizens from all over Europe to discuss about their views on 4 EU Missions, namely on:

  • Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities
  • Adaptation to Climate Change
  • A Soil Deal for Europe
  • Restore our Ocean and Waters

In the second session of this series: “EU’s road to fair climate adaptation: citizen voices and local impact”, our speakers focus on the EU mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, dedicated to supporting EU regions, cities, and local authorities in their efforts to strengthen resilience against the impacts of climate change.

The discussion covers the need for sustainable and inclusive solutions, exploring innovative approaches to climate justice, to ensure a resilient and fair future for communities across Europe. It’s a chance to hear from those at the forefront of designing the future of climate adaptation, understand challenges and opportunities, and discover how cutting-edge technology and policy can work hand-in-hand.

Joining us in the discussion:

  • Sofia Hedén, Deputy-Mayor of Malmö, Sweden
  • Marine Cornelis, Founder of Next Energy Consumer & Energ’Ethic
  • Micol Sagal Ambroso, Citizen, Debating Europe’s Community
  • Alessandra Cardaci, Debating Europe, who will moderate the discussion

Together we explore the following collaborative solutions:

  • Socio-economic disparities in times of climate change
  • Green gentrification and housing accessibility
  • Corporate responsibility and accountability
