Voices for Healthy Oceans and Waters: A Citizen-Focused Dialogue

Between September 2023 and April 2024, we conducted group discussions on climate issues with 160 citizens from all over Europe to discuss about their views on 4 EU Missions, namely on:

  • Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities
  • Adaptation to Climate Change
  • A Soil Deal for Europe
  • Restore our Ocean and Waters

The third part of this series: “Voices for Healthy Oceans and Waters: A Citizen-Focused Dialogue”, is inspired by the EU mission Restore our Oceans and Waters, at protecting and restoring the health of our ocean and waters through research and innovation, citizen engagement and blue investments.

With the health of our oceans and waters becoming a growing concern, this session focuses on exploring innovative ways to safeguards oceans and water resources by addressing the role of the private sector, how to scale and adapt local practices to successfully managed maritime resources and efficiently involve citizens.

Joining us in the discussion:

  • Andreea Strachinescu, Head of Unit Maritime Innovation, Marine Knowledge and Investments (DG MARE)
  • Lefteris Arapakis, Co-Founder & Director of Enaleia and EYL40
  • Samira Ben AliCitizen, Debating Europe’s Community
  • Alba HernandezCitizen, Debating Europe’s Community
  • Moderator: Alessandra Cardaci, Debating Europe
